Ret. U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Edwin “Gene” Neeley, one of the founding members of the 169th Fighter Squadron, received the Legion of Honor from the French government in Peoria Heights, Ill., Sept. 27, 2019, for his contributions to the liberation of France during World War II.
