U.S. Marines with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Southern Command construct and set up a command operations center on Base de Enternamiento de Infanteria de Marina, Coveñas, Colombia, Sept. 28, 2019. A command operations center is used to coordinate the efforts of combined elements when deployed. The Marines are in Colombia for a week-long humanitarian assistance and disaster relief rehearsal on the Caribbean coast alongside the Colombian Navy and Marine Corps. The task force is conducting training and engineering projects hand-in-hand with partner nation military members in Latin America and the Caribbean during their deployment to the region, which coincides with hurricane season.
