98th Training Division -Initial Entry Training

It's time for the next video in the series, The Making of a Drill Sergeant, where we follow a U.S. Army Reserve noncommissioned officer through the process of going to The U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

In Episode 2, Part 5, our drill sergeant candidate, Sgt. Alycia Perkins from Columbia, South Carolina, becomes extremely busy with her course work. Therefore, she did not have time for a video diary this week. However, we do speak with two U.S. Army Reserve drill sergeants from the 98th Training Division who worked with Perkins at the 108th Training Command (Initial Entry Training)'s Drill Sergeant Candidate Program. Listen to what they think about the young drill sergeant candidate and her chances at the Academy, and in the Army in general.

There's a first full story on this 2nd Brigade, 98th Training Division Soldier in the Summer Griffon that was recently released (https://issuu.com/kci-mediagroup.com/docs/griffon_summer_2019_flipbook?fr=sNDU0OTE1NzExMw&fbclid=IwAR1LauDiYfKxqzH_4JFahDmURZRWBNxzB2oA3GgThDNdzbWCuSfm2BpMmLg), but the video clip series will have some interesting little tidbits that would not all fit in the articles. So make sure you watch to learn more about this Soldier and her journey on becoming a U.S. Army Reserve drill sergeant. And stay tuned for the next article in the Fall Griffon that will describe her experiences at the Academy.

If you want to become an Army Reserve drill sergeant yourself, make sure you check out https://www.the98thdrillsergeant.com/ for the qualifications and details on submitting an application.

And for our current 98th Training Division drill sergeants, keep up the great work. We could not be more proud of you. And if you have stories to tell from the trail, make sure you contact the division public affairs officer, Maj. Michelle Lunato. You can send direct messages via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You can also send an email via 98thtrainingdivisionpao@gmail.com.
