Joint water purification training with the U.S. Marines with the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Southern Command and Brazilian Marines are shaping the capabilities and responsiveness with each other, which achieves interoperability among the militaries. The U.S. Marines are in Brazil for UNITAS LX, the world's longest-running, annual exercise that brings together multinational forces from 11 countries to include Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Mexico, Great Britain and the United States. The exercise focuses in strengthening the existing regional partnerships and encourages establishing new relationships through the exchange of maritime mission-focused knowledge and expertise during multinational training operations.The task force is also in the region conducting training and engineering projects alongside partner nation military forces in Latin America and the Caribbean region. The unit is also on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the event of a hurricane or other emergencies in the region. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Mathew Rosado)
