Beale Airmen have been members of the local community for a long time. Being part of the Yuba Sutter Stand Down really is veterans helping veterans both retired and active. The event will be held August 21-23 at the Cotton Rosser Pavilion in Marysville’s Riverfront Park.

I’M CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT MICHAEL HAYWOOD, AND THIS YEARS’ YUBA/SUTTER STAND-DOWN IS AUGUST 21ST, 22ND, AND 23RD, THAT’S NEXT WEEK. WE HAVE A HOMELESS VETERAN PROBLEM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, BUT HERE IN THIS AREA IT’ SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE GREATER, SO THEY STARTED THIS ORGANIZATION IN ORDER TO HELP THEM GET THE SERVICES THEY NEED, WHETER IT BE MEDICAL, DENTAL, MENTAL. A LOT OF THESE VETERANS DON’T EVEN KNOW THEY’RE ENTITLED TO THESE BENEFITS. SO GIVING BACK TO THEM, TO SEEING THE SMILE ON THEIR FACE, TO KNOW THAT THEY’RE GETTING THESE KEY SERVICES THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL TO MOVE ON WITH THEIR LIVES… IT’S JUST A GREAT THING GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY.
