The 154th Wing of the Hawaii Air National Guard (HIANG) conducted a change of command ceremony between outgoing commander, Brig. Gen. Gregory “Woody” Woodrow and incoming commander, Col. Dann S. Carlson at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, August 4, 2019.
Woodrow, a member of the HIANG for 18 years, has been commander of the 154th Wing since May of 2016. Carlson, an Air Force Academy graduate, takes command of the Air National Guard’s largest wing. Prior to coming to the 154th Wing, he was the Assistant Superintendent, for Hawaii’s Dept. of Education, Office of School Facilities and Support Services after serving in the active duty Air Force for 25 years.
The 154th Wing is the largest Air National Guard wing in the nation. The HIANG is comprised of nearly 2,500 Airmen whose federal mission is to be trained and available for active duty Air Force operational missions. The HIANG is also responsible for maintaining a 24/7 vigil of Hawaii’s airspace against any external threats.
