Construction on the 37,000-square-foot, $12.4 million dollar facility began in the fall of 2017.
The completed facility will house the unit’s clinic, food services, communications function and public affairs office. The building will be used daily by full time employees of the Iowa Guard and on training weekends. The facility will accommodate nearly 500 people consolidating several areas under one roof.
The new building is designed to meet the latest anti-terrorism and force protection standards while also offering improved work space. The facility has modern, high efficiency mechanical systems as well as LED lighting throughout the entire structure.
The contract for the facility was awarded to Minneapolis, MN based Opus Design Build, L.L.C. who is the designer and builder.
