Rock Island Arsenal’s Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center takes a big step forward in producing Army readiness. Today was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the “Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence”, a new venture that will produce specialized parts through Additive Manufacturing, or 3D printing.
Eventually, this will be a hub of machines and highly trained technicians producing one-off parts for warfighters throughout the world, getting those parts to where they’re needed in days rather than weeks or months.
This center has been several years in the making, and shows how the Rock Island Arsenal has been, and continues to, support the Army and Joint Forces around the world. Eventually, the hope is that machines like this could be placed in more remote locations, cutting down even more the time it takes to get much needed parts to units around the world.
This is another example of how the Rock Island Arsenal has been producing Army readiness since 1862.
