U.S. Army Soldiers with 68th Engineer Operation Company, based in Fort Hood Texas, conduct Search and Rescue during Guardian Response 19 at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Indiana, May 04, 2019. The soldiers are practicing a search and rescue mission after an outbreak, while enduring public pressure. This training exercise validates the units’ ability to support the Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) in the event of a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) catastrophe. Soldiers train on a wide variety of tasks to include decontamination points, search and rescue operations, medical evacuations, and mortuary affairs. Staff Sergeant Carlos Addison from 2nd Battalion, 311th Regiment in Fort Bragg, North Carolina says the soldiers have a check list of areas they have to met in this training to successful be validated in Guardian Response 19.
