                United States Forces Korea personnel and assets supported efforts to contain and extinguish wildfires in Gangwon province, Republic of Korea, located 130 miles northeast of Seoul, April 5-6.
In coordination with the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff and Combined Forces Command, USFK supported firefighting efforts with four aircraft and 21 personnel from 2-2 Assault Helicopter Battalion and 3-2 General Support Aviation Battalion, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade. The Blackhawks have specially-designed aircraft buckets, called a Bambi Buckets, to scoop water and drop it on designated areas.
