Adm. Karl Schultz, commandant of the Coast Guard, visits Coast Guard Base Los Angeles/Long Beach in San Pedro, California, to deliver the 2019 State of the Coast Guard address March 21, 2019. Throughout the day Coast Guard crews interacted with guests at static displays and provided operational demonstrations after Schultz’s address. Speaking from the largest port in the nation, Adm. Karl Schultz highlighted Coast Guard security and marine safety operations, which facilitate $4.6 trillion in annual economic activity.
