The 65th annual Tri-Service Dental Symposium was held March 12th through the 14th at the New Sanno Hotel in Tokyo. Dentists and orthodontists from the Army, Navy and Air Force throughout Indo Pacific Region—participated in the event along with dentists from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in order to earn professional continuing education credits.

The three-day event began with a video message from Brigadier General Shan Bagby, the 28th Chief of the U.S. Army Dental Corps. Military and civilian doctors and dental specialists, as well as Japanese dentists from local clinics and universities, gave presentations on their specialized field. They also shared information on advanced procedures and techniques as well as best clinical practices.

This is a great opportunity for our Dental Corps to expand the knowledge and ideas on how to take care of patients, as well as the methods of providing medical care, to include maintaining good oral health. This would certainly contribute to the further development of the JGSDF.
