CAP 204 allows us to capitalize on the need to get rid of dredged sand by using it for the enhancement of aquatic ecosystems of the Mississippi River valley.
Through other programs, such as the Upper Mississippi River Restoration program, our District has developed an island building expertise. CAP 204 is just another opportunity to utilize that expertise, specifically at the head of Lake Pepin, in Pool 4 of the Mississippi River, and in Pig's Eye lake, in Pool 2.
