Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an American federal holiday that is observed annually on the third Monday of January to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King on Jan. 15th. Dr. King is recognized for being the head spokesperson for nonviolent activism during the American civil rights movement. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton observes this holiday annually in recognition of Dr. King and his ideals of freedom and equality for all, a standard that Marines and fellow service members uphold.
