Emily Nunez Cavness served in the Army as an intelligence officer. While she was in ROTC, she and her sister, Betsy, founded Sword and Plough. At airborne school, Emily met soldiers who spoke about veteran friends who faced many challenges gaining employment after military service. When she and her sister, Betsy, decided to use repurposed military surplus fabric in their accessories business, they incorporated veterans every step of the way — from design, sewing and management, to fulfillment, sales and even modeling.
