During a training exercise in Elval village, a checkpoint is held by two Polish BMP 1 fighting vehicles, they control access to the village’s bridge. Meanwhile, a UK engineer company simulates mining and controlling access to the main crossroad.
A Polish Mechanised infantry company driving BMP1 fighting vehicles and a company with T72 tanks are installed a few kilometers further in the woods on top of the mountains close to the village. They have held this position for two days, reconditioning their equipment and refuelling their vehicles on the spot, staying alert and securing their perimeter.
Exercise Trident Juncture 2018 brings together around 50,000 personnel, 10,000 vehicles, 65 ships and 250 aircraft from 31 NATO Allies and partner nations. Held in Norway, the NATO exercise starts on 25 October and continues through 7 November.
