00:08 – 01:32 Voice Over, Admiral James Foggo, Commander of Trident
    Juncture 18:
“First of all, getting here was a major victory. I mean, when you’re talking about moving 50,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines by land, by sea and by air, it’s a significant accomplishment. It’s great to see the Swedes and the Fins here in the brigade working together out in the field in the snow and cold weather. And that’s the second challenge and also the second benefit of doing this exercise, is operating in an environment which someday we may have to fight in. So, when I was back in the States a couple weeks ago doing a press conference on Trident Juncture, people asked me the question, ‘Why in the world would you do this in October and November in Norway, it’s cold.’ That’s exactly why. Because we’re toughening everyone up and there’s 29
members of the Alliance and two Partner nations, Sweden and Finland, who are here. You guys know how to fight in the cold but there’s a lot people who don’t get this experience and they’re going to be better off for it. Driving on the highways and byways in Norway has been a challenge. The Total Defence Concept in Norway where everybody is lending a hand and helping us at the airfields and the support facilities and the port facilities has been tremendous. So we’ve really come together as an Alliance and we sent a very strong
message to anybody that might want to challenge us someday that you better not do it.
