It's easy to tell friends and family that you broke your leg and to ask for help with things while you heal. It's more difficult to tell people that you're struggling with depression, feeling anxious, or anything else to do with mental health and to ask for help while you work through it.
We all have a role in preventing suicide. It’s okay to ask someone how they are doing, if they are struggling, and if they are having thoughts of suicide. Start the conversation.
The Minnesota National Guard has resources for service members to include behavioral health counselors, financial assistance, and substance abuse counselors. Reach out to your full-time unit staff or visit minnesotanationalguard.ng.mil to learn more.
If you or anyone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or use the Crisis Text Line by texting "TALK" to 741741.
Thank you to the Minnesota National Guard Resilience, Risk Reduction and Suicide Prevention Program (R3SP), Minnesota Department of Health and Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE) for participating in this documentary.
