Soldiers from U.S. Army 2-151 IBCT perform a live fire exercise during Orient Shield 2018 (OS18). Since its inception in 1985, Orient Shield has focused on the development and refinement of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and U.S. Army’s efforts in the areas of bilateral planning, coordination and interoperability. This exercise underscores a continued commitment by the United States and Japan to work as dedicated partners in support of the Japan-U.S. security alliance and for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
