The Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon visited Sun Valley High School in Monroe, North Carolina, and later performed in addition to the 3rd Marine Air Wing (MAW) Band for the Marine Week Charlotte Community Leaders Reception at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art during the United States Marine Corps’ 2018 Marine Week in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 4. Marine Week is a celebration of community, country and Corps, which provided the American public the experience of directly connecting with approximately 750 Marines. The Marine Corps Recruiting Command planned unique engagements like the Community Leaders Reception to interact with important components of the Charlotte population, looking to share its message of opportunity with a diverse audience of people who in many cases had little previous exposure to its culture. The Silent Drill Platoon is stationed at Marine Barracks Washington in the District of Columbia. The 3rd MAW band is stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California.
