Capt. John R. Farrell of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) provides this Aug. 10 video of a successful water drop during the Mendocino Complex Fire. Farrell is the military flight liaison aboard a California Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk piloted by U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 5 Kenneth Gatewood and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Daniel Yoder of Cal Guard's Fresno Flight Activity.The Ranch and River fires, burning adjacent to each other in Lake, Colusa and Mendocino counties, California, have scorched more than 300,000 acres since igniting July 27.
