U.S. Marine Corps Reservists competing in the 2018, 4th Marine Division Super Squad Competition, conduct a 48-hour patrol base evolution at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, Aug. 4, 2018. Every year Marine Forces Reserve hosts a Rifle Squad Competition that gives 4th Marine Division infantry regiments the opportunity to nominate their top rifle squads to be evaluated in offensive operations, defensive operations, patrolling techniques, combat marksmanship, physical endurance, and overall small unit leadership.
