Tail number 7037 was the first of eight C-5Ms that will join the 439th Airlift Wing. Although it landed here last year it was dedicated during the Great New England Air and Space show on July 13, 2018. Which also coincides with the 50 year anniversary of the first C-5. The dedication included a naming ceremony, dubbing 7037 "Spirit of Chicopee". There were remarks from Col. Scott Durham, commander 439th AW; Patricia Pagan, Director of Airlift Strategic Programs Lockheed-Martin Aeronautics; Richard Kos, mayor of the City of Chicopee.Pagan also presented the C-5's key to Maj. Gen. Jay Jensen, former commander 439th AW and to Senior Airman Austin Berneche, 7037's crew chief and member of the 439th AMXS who grew up in the Chicopee area.
