180713-A-JX987-1001 JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (July 13, 2018) The U.S. Army Medical Command and the Hawaii Healthcare Emergency Management Coalition exercise integrated communication and information sharing systems along with coordination of health care response and recovery operations including an advanced patient tracking system, July 12, as part of the statewide huamanitarian assistance and disaster relief exercise as part of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise. The purpose of the full scale exercise is to prepare for effective response to a natural disaster by synchronizing efforts with government and private sector agencies. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships, five submarines, about 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world's oceans.
