Each day, Airmen within the 379th Expeditionary Wing Civil Engineer Squadron’s Force Protection flight provide installation-wide efforts to reduce the vulnerability of resources and personnel at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Force Protection escorts oversee construction workers and service contractors. Without these escort, the infrastructure and the quality of life at AUAB would suffer, according to Senior Master Sgt. Mireya Calderafavela, 379th ECES Force Protection superintendent.
"Force protection is the foundation of the transformation that Al Udeid is undergoing," Calderafavela said. "One of the main things that [Force Protection] is working on is to support the base master plan - taking Al Udeid from an expeditionary state to an enduring state - that is the mission."
