A NATO exercise is underway to test resources in Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance. It’s called Unified Vision 2018 and it tests NATO’s ability to gather and synthesize information from a mixture of aerial, ground and maritime platforms. Seventeen NATO nations are taking part, along with partner countries Finland and Sweden. The exercise runs until 29 June.
In this part of the exercise, troops from a German special operations unit can be seen rescuing a downed pilot who had been located using a variety of JISR tools.
Footage includes shots of German troops carrying out a personnel recovery operation. They were transported to the site on an Italian HH-101A Caesar helicopter. Personnel were provided by the European Personnel Recovery Centre at Poggio Renatico Air Base in Italy.
