U.S. Marines set up an AN/TMQ-56 Meteorological Mobile Facility during Rossby Wave 18-2 at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, June 13, 2018. The AN/TMQ-56 is a Humvee mounted system able to produce meteorological and oceanographic data for ground and air units native to the Marine Corps. Rossby Wave, a biannual exercise, is conducted to simultaneously train Marines with Air Traffic Control Detachment Alpha and Bravo from Marine Air Control Squadron 4, Marine Air Control Group 18, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, as well as Marines from 3rd Intelligence Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, III MEF. This training event furthers the Marines training and readiness qualification on running the system.
