U.S. Marines with Marine Rotational Force Darwin 2018 conduct exercise Croix Du Sud at New Caledonia, May 14-25. The Marines are integrated into exercise Croix Du Sud hosted by the French Armed Forces. The exercise is a medium size tactical multi-national humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, non-combatant evacuation operations and stability and security operations field training exercise. The Marines are a part of Marine Rotational Force Darwin, established by former U.S. President Barack Obama and former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard in 2011 to build and strengthen partnerships in the Pacific region. Approximately 1,500 Marines are scheduled to participate in training events around the country.
