The bald eagle was chosen as the United States' emblem, a symbol of strength, majesty and freedom, in 1787. In 1984 Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Branch at MCBQ documented the first bald eagle nest on base and began the tagging and tracking program in 2015. Some of the bald eagles that call Quantico home travel as far as Florida and Canada throughout the year. Watch this video to learn more about the program and about the migration habits of one particular young eagle over the last two years.
