At the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue training facility, Md. Guardsman train May 8, 2018, in Gaithersburg, Md. As part of the Guard's state-wide Vigilant Guard exercise, this day-long event engages Air and Army disaster recovery experts with similar civilian experts from Montgomery County's Search & Rescue Special Ops Battalion. Vigilant Guard is designed in-part to enhance interoperability between Guardsman and local disaster relief specialists. In Gaithersburg, the drill featured in this production video involves civilian rescues from a fictitious collapsed concrete building amidst a hurricane.
