Cpl. Lexus Martinez, a food service specialist with Headquarters Regiment, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, shares how she recovered from homelessness, natural disaster and poverty to being a United States Marine dedicated to uplifting everyone she meets. Martinez, a Brooklyn native, and her family were victims of Hurricane Sandy in 2012. She says the experience makes her remember that life is short, so she lives her life like every day might be her last day to inspire someone around her. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Joshua Pinkney)
