U.S. Soldiers assigned to 720th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, CSSB, are assisting their German counterparts in searching and clearing unexploded ammunition at the Baumholder Military Training Area, Baumholder, Germany on March 27 , 2018.
The German Bundeswehr conducts this type of maintenance semi-annually, It consists of detecting and clearing unexploded ordnance, fire lane clearing and forest maintenance. Ammunition leftovers are being searched, identified and disposed of accordingly, either collected as metal waste or destroyed in place.
