The Texas Army and Air National Guard's Best Warrior Competition is intended to reflect real-life combat situations. Competitors face simulated battle conditions, fitness tests, board interviews, written exams and host of other operational tasks to prove their mettle to evaluators.
Every year, the Best Warrior Competition brings together enlisted members of the Texas Army and Air National Guard to compete for the prestigious title of "Best Warrior." Competitors must face multiple challenges during the week, which conclude with a mystery event as the final challenge.
Three 149th Fighter Wing members represented the Lone Star Gunfighters, among whom was the competition's only female participant.
All of the Gunfighters who competed placed in first, second or third in their respective categories with Sergeant Brown making history as the first female to earn a top-three spot.
The official list of winners will be announced during an awards banquet in April.
Reporting from the 149th Fighter Wing at Camp Swift, I'm Staff Sgt. Agustin Salazar.
