Interview of Army Captain Ryan Olsen, Washington National Guard Logistics Readiness Officer for the CBRNE Task Force prior to departing Spokane, WA. CBRN is an acronym that stands for Chemical, Biological, Radioactive and Nuclear, and the primary function is to respond to disasters to decontaminate, provide medical support, provide search and rescue operations and search and extraction. Two C-17's were dispatched from the Alaska Air National Guard to pick up the CBRN equipment and personnel in Spokane, WA in support of the Arctic Eagle 18 exercise. Arctic Eagle 18 is a statewide exercise involving national, state and local agencies designed to provide opportunities for participants to conduct sustained operations in arctic conditions. The goals of Arctic Eagle 18 are for participating forces to operate in a joint, interagency, and intergovernmental and multinational environment; assess ability to conduct sustained operations in arctic conditions, and integrate new and emerging capabilities.
