MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – Sgt. Juan Iturbide was pronounced deceased at Kaiser Medical Center from a stab wound that took place at an incident that occurred in Moanalua, Hawaii, Feb. 19.
Iturbide, 24, a native of Orange, Calif., served as a food service specialist, Service Company, Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
He joined Headquarters Bn. June 19, 2012 and was promoted to his present rank Jan. 1, 2017.
"We mourn the loss of Sgt Iturbide. Our deepest condolences remain with his family and friends,” said Col. Raul Lianez, commanding officer, MCBH. “The sympathy and respect offered by the local community is appreciated by the Marines and families of MCBH.”
His personal awards include the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and three Sea Service Deployment Ribbons.
His death is under investigation by the Honolulu Police Department (HPD). Please contact
