The Expert Infantryman Badge, EIB, is one of the most challenging courses for soldiers, testing their proficiency in infantry skills. Created in November 1943 during World War II, today it is awarded to U.S. Army personnel who hold infantry or special forces military occupational specialties who have perfected the required infantry proficiencies. After the most recent round at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa, both recipients and instructors shared what it means to them to earn and wear the EIB.
