On November 3, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill marking every 3rd Monday in January, Martin Luther King, Jr., day. Dr. King lead a nonviolent Civil Rights Movement in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He worked tirelessly to achieve legal equality for African-Americans in the United States until his assassination in April of 1968. Today we remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for his courageous acts during the Civil Rights Movement (Marine Corps video by LCpl Megan Roses)
