Hello, I am Major General Corey Carr and we want to take the opportunity wish you all happy holidays.
The holidays are a great time to reflect on the year’s work.
Over the past several weeks and months, our soldiers and airmen have answered the call to support our sister states in their time of need following the devastating hurricanes across the United States and territories.
Responding to disasters and protecting our fellow citizens are core competencies of the National Guard.
Our state and nation depend on us.
We truly appreciate all that you have accomplished this year, and we want you to enjoy some well-earned downtime during the holiday season.
Many of you have seen our efforts underway to increase readiness. Being prepared for when the nation calls is a high priority. To that end, we will continue to focus on increasing readiness.
Around the world, we have Indiana soldiers and airmen in harms way diligently serving and defending our national interests. Please keep our fellow soldiers and airmen, and their families, in your thoughts this holiday season.
Also, as you celebrate the season with family and friends, please remember to make safe decisions.
Many will choose to travel the highways to gather with friends and family.
Holiday automobile travel, weather conditions and other seasonal factors drastically increase risks.
Additionally, we all know that the holidays create extra stress for many, so please, look out for one another, remain vigilant and ensure everyone returns home for the new year.
We wish you all the best during this holiday season and look forward to seeing everyone safely return from the holidays to accomplish great things together in the new year.
