"It is very unlikely, that General Nano would exist today without the SBIR program. In fact, it would not have been something that I would have left my career in business to take on this venture if not for the SBIR seed financing to start this company. If the government is placing a bet on you, that sometimes it’s just enough for other people to place a bet on you. Had we not had the SBIR program, our largest customer would not have been interested in our company."
General Nano LLC manufactures a new class of lightweight, functional materials that are principally used to improve carbon fiber composites. Their products reduce weight, increase conductivity and offer multi-functional performance that current material systems today cannot meet. All of their products have been engineered to improve the warfighter whether it’s making aircraft lighter, by using non-metallic materials on structures to making things operate more efficiently for de-icing on leading edges, or making things lighter by using lightweight wire and cable that reduces hundreds of pounds up to thousands of pounds on air vehicles.
They also supply Veelo Strike. It enables a lightning strike capability. Its a surface applied technology and it’s starting to make its way into both commercial and defense . In addition, they are providing specialty coating products that are going to space in 2018 and that give the end user better information from space.
