Members of the 200th Red Horse Squadron from the Ohio National Guard out of Mansfield are working together with the 139th Battalion Support Brigade from the South Dakota National Guard in providing potable water for those in need in the municipality of Comerío, Puerto Rico, after Hurricane Maria disrupted all utilities leaving the Island with no water or electrical power, October 16. Today, the operation got a temporary set-back when torrential rains turbid and flooded the La Plata River dam area where they had set-up operations making it grow more than 30 feet and forcing the two teams to halt operations and convoy toward a safe location nearby. From there they’ll carry on with their continuous efforts to provide clean water and its transportation to those in need. (National Guard video by 1st Sgt. Waldemar Rivera, PRNG-PAO/Released)
