U.S. Marines and Sailors, Japan Ground Self Defense Force Soldiers, and Philippine Navy Seabees come together for construction projects to benefit local communities in Casiguran, Aurora, Philippines, in support of KAMANDAG. Bilateral exercises such as KAMANDAG increase the ability of the United States and the Philippines to rapidly respond and work together during real world terrorist or humanitarian crises, in order to accomplish the mission, support the local population and help mitigate human suffering. KAMANDAG took place from Oct. 2-11 between the Philippines and U.S. The JGSDF are officially observers of the exercise and are only helping with the humanitarian civic assistance activities.
