Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) soldiers with Central Readiness Regiment help U.S. and Philippine service members to construct ongoing projects for local communities in Casiguran, Aurora, Philippines, in support of KAMANDAG. Bilateral exercises such as KAMANDAG increase the ability of the United States and the Philippines to rapidly respond and work together during real world terrorist or humanitarian crises, in order to accomplish the mission, support the local population and help mitigate human suffering. KAMANDAG takes place Oct. 2-11 between the Philippines and U.S. The JGSDF are observers of the exercise and are only helping with the humanitarian civic assistance activities.
