    Video by Capt. Matthew Holfinger

U.S. Marine Corps Training and Education Command

    7 Foundational Movement – Lunge
Primary Muscle Groups – Glutes, Hamstrings, Quadriceps
    Secondary Muscle Groups – N/A
    Preparation:
The Marine will execute a proper squat, grip the sandbag with a neutral grip (palms facing each other), and stand tall with feet, hips and shoulders positioned in a straight line. The feet will be hip width apart and the sandbag will be held at mid-thigh.
    Execution:
The Marine will step back into a lunge, keeping the front foot flat and not allowing the rear knee to touch the deck. As the Marine steps back they will swing the bag to the outside of the forward leg. In one motion they will drive back up to the starting position and swing the bag up to chest height, guiding it into the next lunge on the opposite leg.
Common Mistakes: - Not using the hips to drive the sandbag
    - Not being in control of the sandbag
