    Video by Capt. Matthew Holfinger

U.S. Marine Corps Training and Education Command

    Lower Body Power
Primary Muscle Groups – Glutes, Hamstrings, Quadriceps
    Secondary Muscle Groups – Traps
    Preparation:
The Marine will start in the standing position with feet hip width apart. They will squat down and grasp the sandbag by the inside handles and stand up so the bag in held at mid-thigh.
    Execution:
The Marine will hinge forward, keeping the sandbag close to the body, until max load can be felt in the glutes and hamstrings. From the bottom of the hinge the Marine will explosively extend the hips and shrug the shoulders. When the bag becomes weightless, they will drop the elbows and roll the forearms under the bag so it is held under the chin.
Common Mistakes: - Not using the hips
    - Just pulling with the arms
