Lead: Sentry Eagle is the largest air-to-air exercise held in the lower-48 states in the Air National Guard. Held every two years, planners invite aircraft from around the country, to train for large-force-exercises, which integrate assets from the active duty, from the Navy and from units across the country, just the way it happens in a real air-war. Among the many moving parts of such an undertaking is a small group of Airmen who are the last stop before these fighters take to the sky, and the first when they return. Technical Sergeant Jefferson Thompson takes us onto the hot asphalt of the active airfield for a first-hand look.
