    Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni

Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni residents perform the Bon-Odori alongside Japanese locals during the Bon-Odori festival at Kinjuen nursing home in Iwakuni, Japan, August 14, 2017, as part of a Cultural Adaptation trip. Station residents dressed up in summertime kimonos, called Yukatas, and performed the Bon-Odori, or Bon dance, with Japanese locals. The Obon holiday is a Japanese Buddhist custom where people honor the spirits of their ancestors and the dance is performed all over Japan in order to receive spirits and send them off again while remembering and giving respect to their sacrifices.(U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl.
