MG Sheryl E. Gordon assumed command of the Alabama National Guard during a ceremony at Joint Forces Headquarters in Montgomery. MG Gordon was appointed as the 42nd Adjutant General and first female AG in the state's history by Governor Kay Ivey. MG Gordon who has more than 33 years of service in the Alabama National Guard succeeds retiring MG Perry G. Smith who has served as TAG since January 2011
