Here is a glimpse into the capabilities of the 200th RED HORSE Squadron (RHS). RED HORSE squadrons provide the Air Force with a highly mobile civil engineering response force to support contingency and special operations worldwide. Units are self-sufficient, capable of rapid response and independent operations in remote, high-threat environments worldwide. They provide heavy-repair capability and construction support when requirements exceed normal base civil engineer (Prime BEEF) capabilities.
The Ohio Air National Guard's 200th RED HORSE Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers teamed up with the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Two Five - Seabees and the Marine Forces Reserve Engineer Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 23, Combat Logistics Regiment 4, 4th Marine Logistics Group to conduct an Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) mission in Kapa'a, Hawaii.
IRT missions build mutually beneficial civil-military partnerships between US communities and the Department of Defense (DoD) to provide high quality, mission-essential training for Active, Guard, and Reserve units and contribute to American prosperity by meeting public and civil-society needs.
The IRT mission here was to construct the Kawaihau Elevated Boardwalk that will provide the connection between the Kawaihau Spur portion along Kawaihau road at the lower part of the hill and the portion extending from Gore Park at the upper part of the hill. The path provides for the community of walkers, joggers, and bicyclists an ADA compliant route to connect the community.
