Every year the West Virginia National Guard holds a Kids Kamp at Camp Dawson in Kingwood, WV for children ages 9 to 14. Children enjoy a week of jam packed fun with favored events such as rappelling, archery, and visiting Hovatter's Zoo. The camp started in 1991 and is celebrating its 25th year in existence this year, which was moved from last year due to the record breaking floods of June 2016.
