Today marks Canada’s 150th birthday. 450 Canadian troops are currently serving in Latvia where Canada is leading a multinational NATO battlegroup. The soldiers are on the ground in support of Operation REASSURANCE which is the broad heading of military activities undertaken by the Canadian Armed Forces in support of NATO’s assurance and deterrence measures to promote security and stability in Central and Eastern Europe.
